1. Do Now - Open the program Microsoft Word by double-clicking the icon on your desktop. At the top of the document, type your name. Then track Mr. Irvan.

2. "Mr. Irvan Says" - Try to keep up as Mr. Irvan leads you through a game to teach different tools.
- how to properly bold, italicize, and underline
- how to align text on the left, center, or right
- how to indent using Tab
- how to highlight and change font style and size
4. Independent Practice (Classwork Grade for accuracy) - 15 minutes
- Delete everything you typed.
- Make your header just like before, aligned on the right. You can look at my example above.
- Make sure all text is in Times New Roman 12 point font.
- Hit Enter twice to add a line of space after your heading.
- Press Tab to indent your first paragraph.
- Write a detailed, indented paragraph (6+ sentences) about one of the following topics:
- what college you'd like to attend and why
- your favorite subject you've studied this year at DPH and what you've learned
- what you hope to do with your summer
5. When Mr. Irvan tells you to, save your document by clicking the circle in the upper-left corner. Then select Save As and change the filename to Your Name - Documents Day 1. Save to the desktop.

- Write a professional Microsoft Word mini-essay using all of the formatting tips we've studied: right-aligned header, Tab-indented paragraph, Times New Roman 12-pt for all text, double-spaced, and fix green/red error lines
- Save As to the desktop with the filename "Your Name Food Energy Paragraph"
- Send the file to Ms. Lopez as an email attachment (CC Mr. Irvan). Include a brief, polite message as well, using professional email style.
- After emailing, delete your file from the desktop
